Mya’s Story
These words come from Mya’s family.

Mya struggled with mental health issues for over 7 years and was hospitalized several times. Mya was diagnosed with Bipolar I Disorder, Manic Depression, Social Anxiety, and Body Dysmorphia.
“I don’t wish my illness on anyone.”
– Mya
Despite suffering from a severe mental illness, they were a kind, loving, caring, and a selfless person that had a heart for others, even complete strangers.
Mya was well loved by their family and orbit, but unfortunately, they lost their battle with mental health on February 17, 2025, and died by suicide. They were only 24 years old.
To honor their legacy, we started Mya’s Angels Foundation to combat suicide and help those dealing with mental health issues.
What their family built from loss
Their family started this foundation so the next young person looking for help finds it sooner than Mya did, and hears it from someone who sounds like them. Today that means weekly peer circles, plain-language education for teens and the adults around them, and – soon – a vetted directory of professionals who see young clients.
